Cleaning Up After Your Pet Using Eraser Sponges

Cleaning up after your pet with eraser products

We love our furry family members. Our pets become a part of our household and family routines. We want them to be comfortable and have fun; but sometimes that means having a mess to clean up on a daily basis. Our pet’s activities can cause scuffs on the floors, and marks on our walls, cabinets, and doors. Dogs and cats often make a mess around their food and water bowls, like toddlers at the dinner table.

Eraser Sponges Help Clean Your Home’s Messes

As pet owners, we don’t always have time to grab a bucket, fill it with water, and wet a mop, to wipe up floors; or time to get down on our knees with a bucket full of water and a sponge to clean up scuffed cabinet doors.

The eraser sponge makes it easy to clean up spills, scuffs, and dirty paw prints in a snap. Another great thing about using an eraser sponge to clean up after your pets is that it is simple enough for your kids to use as well. It is much simpler and much less messy to teach your little ones how to help you tidy up after pets by using the eraser sponge.

Giving a small child a mop and bucket of water, can create even more of a mess that the one you were attempting to clean. Keep eraser sponges handy, and have your kids watch you clean up scuffs and marks left by your pets; then engage them in the activity with you.

After going through this process, your kids will automatically reach for an eraser sponge when your dog comes in from playing outside.

Tips For Cleaning Your Bathroom with Eraser Sponges

Woman cleaning bathroom with eraser products

Cleaning the bathroom can be quite the chore and one that might have to be done weekly, depending on how many people live in your home. With all the nooks and crannies, tile grout, and scuff marks, it can be a real pain to clean every area. Fortunately, many of the areas can be cleaned without chemicals using an eraser sponge.

Before you start cleaning

  • Wear latex or vinyl gloves. Wearing rubber gloves will protect your hands and keep the skin from becoming too dry, even if you are just cleaning with water and an eraser sponge. Plus, you will be less squeamish when it comes to tackling dirty and unpleasant areas.
  • De-clutter Counters and Tubs. Clear the bathroom of laundry, wet towels, toys, shampoo bottles and other items to expose all surfaces that require cleaning.

Begin with the tub and shower area.  If you have a separate shower stall, grab your eraser sponge and wet it with water.  Gently scrub tile walls to remove any soap scum, soap residue or water stains. Clean the shower floor last so that you are not walking over it as you clean the rest of the shower area. Run the shower at the very end to rinse away any remaining dirt or debris.

If you have a tub with a shower, clean the wall tiles first with the eraser sponge, then the tub basin and finish using the shower sprayer to rinse the area thoroughly.

Sink and counters. Work top to bottom, left to right, to remove any soap scum, dirt, water stains and leftover tooth paste from the sink and counters. Run the faucet to rinse clean.

Toilet. You may want to use a new eraser sponge on the toilet to prevent any cross contamination issues. Use a sponge on the porcelain part of the toilet, tank, handle, seat and lid. Don’t forget to get behind the seat as well. Dispose of the sponge after use.

Some blogs and social media posts wrongly suggest dropping an eraser sponge into the toilet and letting it sit. Since most eraser sponges do not contain additional cleaning agents, this will not accomplish anything other than having to fish out a wet sponge from the toilet bowl. The cleaning power is the gentle scrubbing used to remove,  dust, grime, soap scum, hard water stains, mold and scuff marks.

Clean the floors last

Use one of our eraser sponge mop heads  to clean dirty grout tile lines on floor tiles. The replacement mop head attach to the head of a mop handle (sold separately) via Velcro. Wet the sponge first or use a spray bottle to wet the floor area before using the sponge to scrub back and forth. Rinse your sponge in a bucket and squeeze out dirty water to get a clean, reusable mop head sponge. Let it air dry and reuse again and again.

You no longer need to stress over cleaning your bathroom. Importance of Household Chores

Importance of Household Chores

If you’ve got a couple of kiddos running around your house, chances are it’s a bit harder for you than it is for your friends without kids to keep the house looking spic and span at all times. Luckily, if your kids are old enough to locate their toy bin, you can usually have them help out with chores. But, the benefits won’t just be a tidier house.

Kids who grew up doing chores around the house are more confident, self-assured, and responsible later in life. So, asking your kids to do a set list of chores each week or each day, like making their beds and cleaning their rooms, or helping to take out the garbage, can actually contribute to making them more successful adults.

Teach a Work Ethic

Chores are the easiest way to instill a work ethic in your kids at a young age. If you decide to give your children an allowance when they’re old enough, without making them work a bit for the money—even if it’s just a few bucks—you’re missing an opportunity to teach them a lesson about the value of their time and money, and how to have a good work ethic.

Earning their allowance rather than simply being given their allowance will make your kids more aware of the idea of working for their money. They may spend it less haphazardly if they were working to earn a certain amount to save up for a toy. If money is just handed over at the end of the week, your kids might start to take the presence of money for granted.

Start with a chore wheel or a list of tasks that your kids need to do each week; if, at the end of the week, they successfully completed each task, dole out that allowance money. If they forgot to take out the trash, but still kept their playroom clean, doc a few bucks from their pay and explain that completing the chore list and contributing is what gets them that Friday payday.Importance of Household Chores

Build Confidence

According to VeryWell.com, having your kids do chores around the house will leave them feeling accomplished, because they contributed to the household. That sense of accomplishment is an important factor in raising a child, especially when the pressures of school and social lives can be tough to handle, even from a young age. Allowing your kids to take part in the household chores gives them something to make them part of the team, leaving them more self-assured and confident in other situations.

So much in our childhoods is outside of our control, and that’s a tough concept for many kids to grasp; but when they are in control of their own toys and are invested in certain chores around the house, they’ll feel grounded, useful, and self-assured.

Grow Resourcefulness

Doing chores around the house isn’t about making things perfect; it’s about getting the job done. Participation in household chores will teach your kids to be resourceful, and how to manage time.

For example, if your child needs to clean the playroom one afternoon, but doesn’t want to miss their TV show, encourage your child to clean up during commercial breaks or before the show comes on. Having a goal-oriented task can force your child to problem solve, be resourceful, and manage their time.

Prepare for Adulthood

It might seem like a silly concept: your 7-year-old doesn’t have to worry about being a grown-up just yet, right? But in fact, ThirtyHandMadeDays.com says chores will help your kids by preparing them for adulthood—simply by showing them how to do household chores.

As your kids get older and take on more responsibility, they’ll learn the skills they need for running their own successful household as adults. For example, you may dust before vacuuming so that any errant dust gets picked up, and use bleach products in the bathroom. Your kids will notice these things, and carry them into their own homes when they move out someday. Plus, asking your children for help with the laundry will make learning how to do their own when they’re off to college that much easier.

Importance of Household ChoresStart Now

PBS says the key to instilling all of these things in our children so that they can have a successful life is to start while they are young; while toddlers may not be able to grab the vacuum cleaner out of the closet and go to town on the living room, encouraging them to keep their space neat and tidy, and contributing to other chores, like clearing plates and cups after a meal, will get them on the right track. As soon as your kids are old enough to start to understand a rewards system, use stickers or an allowance to help keep them goal-oriented on completing their weekly tasks.

When your kids are in their teenage years, they can contribute a lot more, like by being responsible for bringing in the mail, taking out the trash, and even doing their own laundry.

No household cleaning kit is complete without a great eraser sponge; no matter how old your kids are, your home’s walls are bound to be covered in either crayons and markers or smudges of some kind! Using Eraser Sponges to Fix Artistic Mistakes

Are you a painter? Do you sometimes make mistakes? Instead of tossing the whole project and becoming frustrated, you can use an eraser sponge to fix them!

In the past we have been sharing fun and even unique uses for your eraser sponges, but this one definitely takes the cake. From the time that eraser sponges have become popular, people have been searching for uses and tricks and you’ll want to give this trick a shot if you paint.

With water color paintings it is very easy to get paint where you didn’t mean to, and can also make it hard to change the overall look of the painting.

With eraser sponges you now have a way to do that:

-If you have something you would like to add to your water color painting, create a stencil of the object and place it on your painting wherever you want the object to be.

-Once the stencil is in place, take a small piece of an eraser sponge and wet it. Make sure to squeeze out most of the water.

-Once this is done, gently wipe the painting where the stencil is. This will bring up the paint and do this multiple times until the canvas or paper is blank again.

-Once you pull up the stencil, you will find that there is a perfect white spot in the shape of your object! This will make it easier to add in that shape or object that you couldn’t add in before.

-Before working on your project again, dry your painting or set it aside to dry naturally before continuing to work on it.

Who would have thought that eraser sponges would have such artistic uses? To order an eraser sponge for multiple uses, contact Spongeoutlet today at 877-776-6430 and shop our products online!

Stained Plastic Containers? Try Eraser Sponges

Your plastics will look brand new after giving your eraser sponge a whirl.

You just opened your dishwasher and all of your pots, pans, cups and plates are sparkling clean except the plastic container you put your leftover spaghetti sauce in the night before. It’s still coated in the same greasy red and orange oil it had when you first put it in the dishwasher. Or perhaps you have scrubbed and soaked the plastic container with soap and hot water but the greasy texture won’t seem to budge.

If the dishwashing detergents can’t cut through the grease along with the hot water and soap, then what can?

Thankfully it turns out that all you need is an eraser sponge from Spongeoutlet! These little miracle pieces of melamine foam can take out greasy, oily red pasta sauce stains. Your plastics will look brand new after giving your eraser sponge a whirl. Gently rub the stains with a damp eraser sponge, wash the item with soapy water and rinse clean.

There are countless uses for the eraser sponges, but if you have been contemplating whether or not you should toss your stained plastic containers, think again and give this handy trick a shot. Keeping the Paint on Your Walls Fresh

Has the paint on your walls become dull with age?

Or has your little one expressed their creativity with bright crayon marks across the playroom walls?

In either situation, maintaining fresh, bright paint can be a bit of a task.

But we at SpongeOutlet have a few suggestions to help bring them back to life!

Dust the walls with microfiber.

Our first trade secret is a simple one – just dust your walls. In many of your rooms, a simple dusting will help get rid of the dirt, cobwebs and dust that have stuck to the surface over time.

If you let the grime on your walls build up, it will surely shorten the life of your paint.

The fibers will lock in dust while soaking up any water used during cleaning so that no streaks are left behind.

We do not recommend using a regular dish towel on the walls of your home; they can leave so much debris that your walls may end up looking worse than when you began.

Scrub the dust-free walls with an eraser sponge.

If you have markings on your walls from chairs brushing up against them – or the aforementioned “artwork” – and need something a bit stronger to clean, we have the perfect product for you.

  • Our Eraser Sponge is the tool that you are looking for, and one that every home need!

This sponge can remove grit, grime and dust from your walls without compromising the paint.

And the best part is that it will not leave behind any hazardous chemicals or odors.

The next time you are looking around your home and notice that the paint on your walls needs to be cleaned up to bring back its fresh look, think of SpongeOutlet.

We have all the products you need to freshen up your walls with ease when they do get a bit dusty or grimy.

You can place your order online or by phone at 877-776-6430.

As with any cleaning products, remember to test on a small, discreet area before cleaning the entirety of your walls.

Choosing the Right Paint for Your Walls

Whether you have recently moved into a new home or are looking to update your current abode, a fresh coat of paint is one of the best ways to re-envision your house’s appearance.

A clean slate that allows you to change up your throw pillows and decorative pieces, a new paint color can do wonders for updating the feel of your home.

But for families with young children and pets, keeping your walls clean can seem like an impossible task.

And with so many colors and finishes to choose from, how do you know what will hold up best to daily wear and the occasional crayon mural?

Look for a Light Color

Many families make the mistake of choosing neutral wall colors like beige and grey, just because they are good at hiding dirty handprints.

There are plenty of other options you can look at, as long as you stick to pale hues and midtones.

Colors like dark reds, purples and blues will show wear much more quickly than their lighter counterparts, burnishing in spots where your pets and children rub up against them.

Choose the Right Finish

With so many options to consider, choosing a paint finish can be overwhelming. If you are looking to get away from the shiny appearance of semi-gloss and hi-gloss enamel paint, eggshell is a durable and less reflective finish that is easy to clean.

With a flat surface and barely and sheen, eggshell holds up well against all the dirt and grime your children may coat it with.

Clean with the Eraser Sponge

Although we hope that your newly painted walls stay fresh for a long time, accidents do happen.

Whether it’s play dough stains, marker or beverage stains on the wall, the Eraser Sponge is tough enough to get the job done, but gentle enough not to damage your paint’s finish. Click here to learn more about cleaning your walls with the Eraser Sponge, then visit SpongeOutlet online to place your order.

Cleaning and Organizing Your Home in the New Year

If you made a New Year’s resolution to get your home more organized as January begins, now is the perfect opportunity to make changes throughout your home, rearranging furniture, cleaning out cupboards and donating items you no longer use.

There is no better feeling than coming home to a clean, well-organized house and with these simple tips your place will look its best in no time.

Create a Landing Area

One of the biggest problems when it comes to organizing your home is dealing with the array of objects

  • Coats
  • Shoes
  • Purses
  • Backpacks
  • Mail
  • Keys

that come in the door when your family gets home in the evening.

Instead of allowing these items to be placed on the kitchen counter and piled on the backs of chairs, we recommend creating a landing area near the door.

Hang some hooks for your coats, lay down mats for shoes and boots, and add a hall table to your décor. The perfect place for keys, purses and mail to be placed, this new addition will also make getting out of the door easier every morning.

All you have to do is grab your pile of stuff and run.

Work Room by Room

The idea of cleaning your entire home is a big commitment and one that can scare off even the most determined individuals. Instead of looking at your New Year’s cleaning undertaking as one enormous project, break it down into a bunch of small assignments.

Focus on a different room of your home every week or month, creating a more organized and functional space as you go.

With a little time and elbow grease, your home will be sparkling clean by the time you are finished removing clutter and reorganizing each room.

As you are making these organizational changes to your home, do some cleaning along the way to create a fresh and glowing home for the new year.

Whether you are scrubbing the floors, cleaning the cabinets or wiping down the counters, SpongeOutlet has the cleaning products you need to get the job done.

Our Eraser Sponges and Melamine Floor Pads are tough on dirt and grime without compromising the surfaces of your home – just spot test an area before getting started. To place your order today, visit us online or give us a call at 877-776-6430.
